New Year, New Library Lessons on Digital Citizenship!
In order to focus on library skills, procedures, and orientation, Digital Citizenship lessons will being in November. Stay tuned for more digital citizenship resources, lessons, and examples of student work!
Mrs. Dillard will be presenting for the fourth year in a row at the Alabama Educational Technology Conference (AETC)! Her presentation proposal on teaching digital citizenship will be one of the many great concurrent sessions offered at AETC 2015 in Birmingham, Alabama in June.
During the concurrent session, Mrs. Dillard aims to provide educators with resources and ideas to effectively teach digital citizenship for grades K-12. Her Smore page she will share, and keep updated, is embedded in the post for those wanting more resources. As I was reading my Facebook news feed, I came upon this article from www.al.com, aggregated news source,This week in the library, students in grade 4-6 will learn the power of words. The old adage, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me," may not ring as true as we think. Students are learning about cyberbullying and how words can be very powerful.
On Monday, January 12th, 4th graders discussed solutions to a situation where cyberbullying is occurring. Many of the students had very thoughtful responses to how to respond when being bullied in addition to why bullies bully others. On Tuesday, January 13th, 5th graders discussed the reasons why people bully others.
